Renunciation and remorse PETER

Renunciation and remorse PETER

(Matthew 26: 69-75; Mark 14: 66-72; Luke 22: 55-62; John 18: 25-27)
(69) Peter sat without in the palace. And went to him a maid and said: You also were with Jesus of Galilee. (70) But he denied before them all, saying, I know not what thou sayest. (71) When he was gone out into the porch, another maid saw him, and said to those who were there and this was with Jesus of Nazareth. (72) And again he denied with an oath, I know not the man. (73) A little later those who stood there and said to Peter, Surely thou also art one of them, for your speech betrays you. (74) Then he began to curse and to swear, I know not the man. Suddenly, the cock crew. (75) And Peter remembered the word that Jesus said unto him, Before the cock crows, you will deny me three times. And he went out, and wept bitterly.
(Matt. 26: 69-75)
about the Author

Kozlov Ignatievich Gabriel (1738-1791)
In the first decades of the Imperial Academy of Arts within it there is sufficient democratic order. Pupils Academy - Young people from the lower classes. Many of them after a while became teachers of the Academy, her professors. But even against this backdrop that looks unique decision of the Council of the Academy for appointment as Adjunct Professor Gabriel Ignatievitch Kozlova, which contained a condition that the artist will be able to take this position only in the case of liberation from bondage. I must say that the Academy was in relation to Mr. Kozlov consistent - she bought it in 1763. Two years later, GI Kozlov became an academician, and then a professor. Unfortunately, the original creations of the artist to have survived much.

It is clear that we have not reached his artistic decoration of the court theater. Only the painting "The apostle Peter renounces Christ" and a few ink drawings may indicate a high potential of the visual wizard. Was GI Goats and a wonderful teacher - among his disciples twelve future academicians. And if it is neither a huge contribution to the development of Russian art.
