George Wesley Burrows (Bellows) (1882 - 1925)

George Wesley Burrows (Bellows) (1882 - 1925), an American realist painter, was born in Columbus, Ohio.
In 1904 he became a founding member of the New York art school group Eshkanan (Ashcan School), in 1909 he entered the National Academy of Design. In 1906, George Wesley Burrows in New York opened his own studio. He taught at the Art Institute of Chicago.
Collaborated in the socialist journal "Masses? (The Masses), but moved away from him because of his active support of the US entry into World War.
He died of peritonitis caused by inflammation of the appendix in 43 years.




Beautiful portraits by Bellows around 1910, which delights are a contrast to his rich, dynamically-realistic paintings depicting the life of a big city - the first in New York.











The most famous painting works J.. U.Bellouza - "Dempsey and Firpo? (Dempsey and Firpo, Whitney Museum of American Art) depicts the battle boxers - Bellows always been interested in sports. Colors and imagination of the artist reflect the actual strength and dynamics of movements of athletes.
